S.U.N. Philosophy Vital Nonsense (VNON) was founded by musician/ emcee/ artist/ teacher/ philospher/ Calafia Zulu member/ Anti-injustice Movement artist Gabe Rosales in 09. V.NON is a revolutionary band/movement to acknowledge and encompass all styles of music and to create awareness of the global injustice happening every day but because of our "false consciousness"we are ignorant to the exploitation or, we have given up our hope and freedom by accepting it as an indisputable force. VNON has many close affiliations with different causes and organizations to help revive humanity's strength to challenge its oppressors which come in the form of organized religion, central banks, corporations who have no moral responsibility to the earth and corrupt governments. The band promotes a S.U.N. philosophy which stands for Scientific Universal and Nonsectarian. This concept is derived from vipassana meditation as originally taught by Buddha in India over 2500 years ago. The teaching is universal because misery is a universal problem for all humanity. It is non-sectarian because subscribing to a particular sect promotes separation and aggravates nationalities and turns brother on brother and sister on sister. In an ever changing, ever evolving world, we need to use logic and reason to to come out of our chaotic habit patterns. This S.U.N. philosophy acknowledges the fundamental problem with humanity which is our inability to understand and observe our feelings and emotions OBJECTIVELY. VNON bases nothing on blind faith or dogmatic rituals. V.NON covers all styles from jazz fusion to death metal to live out the dream of a group who are proficient in many forms of self expression. Gabe Rosales' 1st solo album entitled Vital Nonsense was the launch pad for this concept and band. The movement includes members Jeff Suburu (guitars), Mike Madariaga (guitars), Brian Roberts (keys), Anesha Rose (vocals), Peter Freeman (bass), Jimi Etherington (vocals), Jon Knox (drums), Max Vega (drums and percussion), Divine Styler (vocals), Zulu King Lastman (vocals). THE CONCEPT Vital Nonsense spawned from a chapter in the quantum mechanics book entitled The Dancing Wu Li Masters by Gary Zukav. - "The importance of nonsense can hardly be overstated. The more clearly we experience something as 'nonsense', the more clearly we are experiencing the boundaries of of our own self imposed cognitive structures. 'Nonsense' is that which does not fit into the pre-arranged patterns which we have super imposed on reality. There is no such thing as 'nonsense' apart from the judgemental intellect that calls it that." "True artists and true physicists know that nonsense is only that which, viewed from our present point of view, is unintelligible. Nonsense is nonsense only when we have not found the point of view from which it makes sense. Those scientists who establish the established lines of thought, however, are those who do not fear to venture boldly into nonsense, into that which any fool could have told them it is clearly not so. BIO FOR JON KNOX Raised in the land of sunshine, Californian Jon Knox started drumming at the age of four. Banging on pots and pans, he drove his family nuts! Jon's talent impressed his father enough for him to go out and buy Jon his first drum kit. His early musical exposure was sounds of Motown, Gospel and Jazz oozing from the stereos of Mom and Dad. Soon the rhythmic pulse and grooves of Funk and Rock & Roll pioneers blasting through the walls of his siblings became a great influence on Jon. He began drawing from these multifarious musical influences to help mold and shape his drumming skills. Jon's drumming is compelling, creative and he has received distinction as being an inspiration to players of all musical styles. His musical talents have been nominated for Grammy and Dove awards and he has toured and appeared on numerous television and radio broadcasts that have spanned the globe. During his career Jon has worked with many widely acclaimed artists and members of such groups including Adam Again, Rage against the Machine, White Heart, Blind Melon, DC Talk, The Wooten Brothers, No Doubt, Mandissa Hundley, Audio Adrenaline, Foo Fighters, Crystal Lewis, Steve Cropper, Carman and many others. Working alongside such diverse artists allowed him to expand into a very versatile musician. He further pursued his love for music by teaching himself to play guitar, bass and to compose and produce music. Currently, you can find him involved in remixing, making beats, scoring and producing projects as well as being hired out as a drummer for various projects. He has created an electronica/hip, hop type project called Dos Negros that he produces music for and remixes tracks. Also, he continues to compose and produce music for several music library companies. His compositions are in these genres of music: Rock, Alternative, Hip Hop, Pop, Indie, R&B and Electronica. Credits include: Sirius & XM Radio, Viacom, HBO, Shaw Communications, Deliverance Films, Play Ltd. and Discovery. BIO FOR JIMI ETHERINGTON JimiE and the Moral Groove originated from Laguna Beach, CA in 1998. Founding members JimiE and Gabe Rosales envisioned a music landscape where genres were meant to be explored and tampered with, where soul was still a double meaning encompassing the actual depth, and feel of the music, where lyrics were thought out, and expressed through creative, intelligent, linguistic similes and metaphors without over indulging on cliches. Where experimenting, and developing well written songs was there only aspirations. The Moral Groove Mantra was and always will be LISTEN AND THEN BELIEVE....... Through playing every club in Southern California, (that is no exaggeration) JimiE and the Moral Groove have perfected the live show with antics, musicianship, performance and excitement. Their groove and funk is unmistakable. Their rock is rock solid. Their loyalty to the roots of music is unquestionable.
